Sustainable retail furniture for luxury retail
Spaces that translate brand identity into unique shopping experiences
At Aluma3 we develop sustainable retail furniture for premium and luxury retail brands, integrating design, in-house manufacturing and installation under an EcoDesign approach applied to the point of sale.
This model allows us to approach each project in a comprehensive way, considering materials, processes, logistics and the furniture lifecycle to create spaces that are more efficient, durable and consistent with brand identity.
What is EcoDesign
applied to luxury retail?
EcoDesign in luxury retail is a design methodology that integrates sustainability, circular economy and responsible material selection across the entire lifecycle of retail furniture. Its goal is to reduce the environmental impact at the point of sale without compromising the customer experience, the functionality of the space or brand identity.
At Aluma3 we apply ecodesign in retail in a comprehensive way because we do not treat it as an add-on to the process, but as a criterion that guides every phase of the project: design, manufacturing, installation and maintenance. The combination of in-house manufacturing, process control, material traceability and maintenance allows us to develop retail spaces that are more sustainable, efficient and durable.
How we apply EcoDesign at every stage of the project
Sustainable design of retail spaces
Every sustainable retail furniture project begins with an analysis of the brand's needs, the space and the intended use at the point of sale.
At this stage we select sustainable materials for retail, define modular solutions and design structures that facilitate disassembly, reuse and optimisation of the furniture lifecycle.
Technical feasibility, aesthetics and sustainability are addressed in an integrated manner right from the start.
Sustainable manufacturing and process control
In our own facilities we manufacture sustainable retail furniture with direct control over materials, processes, finishes and production efficiency.
We optimise resources, reduce waste and apply sustainable manufacturing criteria for retail furniture to minimise the environmental impact of each project.
Traceability is direct and verifiable at every stage of production.
Efficient installation and logistics
We optimize routes, loads, and transportation to reduce the carbon footprint of commercial furniture.
We design lighter components whenever the project allows, improving logistics efficiency and reducing the impact associated with installation at the point of sale.
Our teams work according to sustainable retail installation criteria, minimizing waste and optimizing resources during assembly.
Maintenance and furniture lifecycle
Sustainable retail furniture is not replaced before prematurely: it is maintained, updated and extended.
Our maintenance service allows spaces to be repaired, only the necessary parts replaced and the recycling of removed materials properly managed.
Extending the furniture lifecycle is one of the key principles of EcoDesign in retail and of reducing environmental impact at the point of sale.
Sustainable materials
for luxury retail
Choosing sustainable materials in luxury retail is not an aesthetic decision, but a technical decision that must consider intended use, durability, performance in high-traffic environments, recyclability and consistency with brand identity
At Aluma3 we work exclusively with suppliers holding FSC or PEFC certification, which guarantees the responsible origin of wood throughout the entire chain of custody.
Every material is evaluated based on its full lifecycle: not just how it looks, but how long it lasts, what it requires in terms of maintenance and what happens when it reaches the end of its useful life.
Materials we regularly work with:
Maderas certificadas (FSC/PEFC)

Recycled metals (aluminium and steel)

In-house manufacturing of sustainable retail furniture
In-house manufacturing is one of the factors that make it possible to apply EcoDesign in retail in a real and measurable way.
When design and production are integrated under the same roof, it is possible to make more precise decisions about materials, processes and logistics and to measure the impact of each one.
At Aluma3 we have over 6,000 m² of our own facilities in Arganda del Rey, where we develop retail furniture projects for luxury retail with full control over manufacturing.
What are the sustainability benefits of in-house manufacturing?
Optimization of cuts and utilization of offcuts, reducing waste at the source.
Design of modular and demountable structures from the initial project phase.
Direct control over materials: selection, origin, traceability, and end-of-life management.
Reduction of the logistics footprint: fewer intermediaries, fewer trips, lower carbon footprint.
Reuse of materials recovered from previous projects, integrated into the workshop’s daily operations.
Manufacturing under energy efficiency standards, using solar photovoltaic power: 200 modules installed at our factory, supported by the NextGenerationEU program.
Circular economy in retail furniture and point of sale
Luxury retail spaces are not permanent. Flagships, corners, pop-ups and seasonal spaces evolve constantly, generating high turnover of furniture and display elements. Applying the circular economy in retail means designing with this cycle in mind from the very beginning.
At Aluma3 we work to a clear principle: every element we design and manufacture must be updatable, dismountable and, wherever possible, reusable in a future project.
- Disassembly design: identifying separable parts to facilitate selective waste management and recycling by material type.
- Modular structures that allow the space to be adapted to new collections or needs without manufacturing new elements.
- Preventive maintenance that extends the useful life of the furniture and prevents premature replacement.
- Responsible disposal management: when we dismantle a space, we separate materials for recycling by authorized operators.
- Reuse of recovered materials in new projects, when technical and aesthetic conditions permit.
What are the sustainability benefits of in-house manufacturing?
Our sustainability approach is based on verifiable criteria, not declarations. We have a production structure designed to measure and reduce the environmental impact of every project, backed by independent certifications.
